The beach opening date that Torontonians have been waiting for is approaching. The City of Toronto has confirmed June 1 as the official opening date for this year’s beaches.
Toronto’s beaches are open to the public year-round, but lifeguards begin patrolling on the official opening day. This year, starting June 1, lifesavers will be stationed at 10 beaches from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. • Woodbine Beach the City of Toronto’s website provides useful information about parking and transportation. You can also check the real-time water quality status of the beach. To ease concerns about water quality, eight of Toronto’s 10 swimming beaches received Blue Flag certification this year.
Blue Flag is an internationally recognized certification that guarantees high water quality and safety. An official from the City of Toronto said, “We are thoroughly deploying lifesaving agents and managing water quality so that citizens can enjoy the beach safely.”
