London Drugs, a major Canadian drugstore, has been temporarily closed since April 28th. The affected stores are 79 stores in four western Canadian provinces: British Columbia (BC), Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
London Drugs said the issue was due to a “cybersecurity issue.” It is believed to have been the result of a cyber-attack. “To protect our network and data, we engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to immediately conduct containment, remediation, and forensic investigation.”
The company announced that there is no evidence that data was leaked.
If you need to use a pharmacy urgently, we ask that you call a nearby store where a pharmacist is on standby to decide. All stores in Metro Vancouver were closed, with signs posted on the entrance doors, and employees could be seen giving explanations near the entrances.
