Science World Vancouver announced that the football-patterned panels covering its iconic spherical dome will begin removal on Tuesday. As part of the World Cup celebrations, the dome was transformed into a giant football, becoming a striking landmark along Vancouver’s waterfront skyline. The demolition work is scheduled to begin early Tuesday morning, starting from the east side of the building.
The entire demolition process is expected to last two to three weeks. Although the football motif is about to disappear, the museum says these panels may have other uses in the future. The museum posted on Facebook: “Want to know what happens after these panels are removed?” Please stay tuned for our announcements. ” Vancouver residents will have the chance to catch a glimpse of this World Cup-themed landmark during the last two days of the long weekend.
