According to the “2025 Lost and Found List” released by Uber on Tuesday, April 8th, a snare drum lost in Toronto made the list of the most unique lost items across Canada. Commonly misplaced items included smartphones, wallets, bags, keys, and headphones. However, the list also featured several unusual finds. In Ottawa, a physics test paper and a pink cane were reported lost, while in Vancouver, someone even left their grandmother in the car. Toronto saw some bizarre items as well, including snare drums, a piano, a gold tooth, and a cat urine sample.
Despite these oddities, Uber reported that Toronto, along with Ottawa and Calgary, ranked among the cities with the fewest lost items in the country. Conversely, the cities with the most lost items per vehicle occupant were Lethbridge, Kelowna, and Victoria— all located in western Canada. London was the only Ontario city that appeared on the list of cities with the highest number of lost items.
In terms of timing, Uber noted that New Year’s Eve and Father’s Day were the days when the most items were reported lost in 2024, with Saturday being the most common day of the week for such incidents. Uber advised that if a customer loses an item in a vehicle, the quickest method of retrieval is to contact the driver immediately through the driver’s information available in the app. For those who lose their smartphones, they should log into their Uber account from another device. Uber also mentioned that a $20 retrieval fee applies, which is fully paid to the driver as compensation for the inconvenience.
